Number 10 in the Books!

Change of plans brings familiar results.

At some point during the trip from Pooler to Lanier Speedway on April 12, Andrew and the team learned that the races had been called due to inclement weather. So much for their much anticipated 2008 debut at the track in Braselton, Ga.

Fortunately, the road to the Watermelon Capital Speedway was just ahead. It didn't take too much debate to decide to take the exit and head to Cordele. It was a good decision.

Threatening skies eventually gave way to a great evening for racing and 17 Legends drivers joined the other local divisions for opening night at "the 'Melon." It looked as though some other teams that don't normally race at Cordele were on hand for the show, but Andrew remained confident. After all, he had won the last nine times he had raced here.

There was a little concern about how the car would handle since the rebuild after the crash in Bristol, but after only a couple of laps of practice, Andrew pulled the car back to the pits and gave the thumbs up, saying "we'll be alright."

Earlier in the afternoon, something strange had happening during the draw for the heat race: Andrew pulled a ONE!!.

"I started to give it back to her 'cause I'm used to starting in the back," said Andrew. "It might be bad luck."

It was - for everyone else.

Andrew would lead every lap of the heat race to take the victory to earn the pole position for the evening's feature. During the intermission and the dice roll for the inversion of the feature race, things got back to normal as Andrew rolled his customary "5" which would place him in the fifth starting spot for the main event.

Going into turn one the after the green flag, Andrew was fifth. Coming out of turn two, he was second. A short, but spirited, battle between Andrew and the leader ensued for the front spot, but Andrew's white #62 was hooked up just a little better and he eventually wrestled the lead away and drove to his tenth consecutive victory at the Watermelon Capital Speedway.

After the race, Andrew was asked what was next after this victory to which he replied, "I guess I'm gonna have to take my shoe off for the next one."

It will definitely be an interesting evening on April 19 as Andrew will have to start the quest for win number eleven from the back of the field. The track has instituted a new rule this season that after a victory, the winner must start in the rear the following week. Should be fun.

If you can, please join us at the Watermelon Capital Speedway on Saturday, April 19 to support Andrew as he battles to keep the streak alive.
