Andrew made his first trip to the Northeast U.S. on August 16 to participate in the first annual Legendstock race at the Bethel Motor Speedway. Even though he was driving a borrowed car, Andrew showed that he is a threat to win each time he takes to the track.

Racing as a guest of Clay Hair Motorsports teammate and friend Mike Alcaro and the Alcaro Racing Team, Andrew quickly came up to speed in his ride for the weekend. He should have been used to it as it was his original '37 Chevy sedan that he started his Legends career in. As luck would have it, the Alcaro racing team had purchased the car a few years back and Andrew was once again paired with his old car. Andrew was able to take the car around the tight 1/4-mile track fast enough for a 4th place qualifying time. After the inversion, Andrew started near the rear of the last heat race and drove to a 3rd place finish in the heat. In the feature, Andrew battled his way towards the front and would wind up fourth. Mike Alcaro finished a strong second overall and first in the Semi-Pro division and brought home a nice Legendstock trophy.

On Sunday, the guys traveled to the Chemung Speedrome to do battle. After a third place finish in his heat race, Andrew found out that he would have to start 14th due to a track rule that hadicaps the feature starting spots based partly on point standings. Of course, since it was his first time at the track, Andrew had zero points. Andrew proceeded to battle into the top 10 before getting spun out. He would have to restart at the rear of the field. He once again drove up through the field and had made it to sixth place when a caution (involving Mike Alcaro while leading) would come out. The car behind Andrew failed to slow down and slammed into the rear of Andrew's car - destroying the rear suspension and ending Andrew's night.

Andrew and the Andrew Smith Racing Team want to express our sincere thanks to Mike and the Alcaro Racing Team for allowing Andrew to visit and race with them. It was truly a great experience and we hope to be able to return the favor in the future.
